W. Joseph McCune, MD, is the Director of the Lupus Program at Michigan Medicine, Michael H. And Marcia S. Klein Professor of Rheumatic Diseases, and a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine.

W. Winn Chatham, MD, is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at UAB where he serves as the Associate Division Director for Clinical Services. From 1999 to 2012 he served as the Rheumatology Training Program Director at UAB. He has been the recipient of an ACR Clinician-Scholar Educator Award and was recipient of the ACR 2018 Clinician Scholar Award. His clinical and research interests are in lupus, immunodeficiency associated autoimmunity, and macrophage activation syndromes in the setting of autoimmune disorders.

Dr. William Bernal is a pediatric rheumatologist, a specialist in caring for children with rheumatic diseases. He is an expert in pediatric amplified pain syndromes and is co-director of the UCSF Pediatric Amplified Pain Rehabilitation Program, an inpatient interdisciplinary program that aims to help patients disabled by amplified pain restore function and relieve pain. His research focuses on patient-reported outcomes related to pain rehabilitation, as well as the role adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) in patients with chronic pain. He earned his medical degree from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. He completed a residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, followed by a fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and is certified in musculoskeletal ultrasound by the ACR.

We are constantly improving on the advances in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis by offering the very latest and most innovative therapies. I pursued a career in medicine because I wanted to help people. I feel that excellent care is the result of communicating well, being reliable, and being available to my patients when they need me. Being able to help relieve the pain and suffering of my patients, particularly those who could not find help previously, is extremely rewarding.
