Activity Overview
Rheum2Learn 2.0 is case-based, fundamental clinical rheumatology education for residents. Each interactive activity includes three patient cases that focus on the care and assessment of individuals with rheumatologic diseases.
In this activity, learn how to recognize the clinical presentations, interpret test results, list differential diagnosis, and enumerate treatment options for patients with infectious arthritis. The following conditions are included: parvovirus, Lyme disease, monoarthritis, monoarticular arthritis, and septic arthritis.

Target Audience
Residents in training who may provide care for patients with rheumatic diagnoses in primary care, inpatient, critical care, and other clinical contexts.
The activity may also be of interest to medical students, fellows in training, advanced practice providers, practicing physicians, and other health care professionals who seek to strengthen their clinical knowledge of rheumatic diseases.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Describe the clinical manifestations of parvovirus infections in adults
Summarize laboratory data abnormalities that can be seen in parvovirus infections
Review potential infectious and rheumatologic musculoskeletal diseases with similar presentations
Identify the treatment for acute parvovirus infections in adults
Understand epidemiology and transmission of Lyme disease
Identify clinical stages of Lyme disease
Diagnose Lyme disease
Develop a treatment plan for patients with Lyme disease and arthritis
Prevent post-Lyme sequelae
Review potential etiologies for an acute mono-arthritis
Describe the key steps in the workup of an acutely inflamed joint
Summarize and prioritize the initial treatment strategies for a septic joint
